Vancouver Wedding Photographer

VANCOUVER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

If you’re searching for a Vancouver wedding photographer, you’re likely looking for someone who will do more than simply document your day. You want someone who understands how to create a relaxed experience, capture genuine emotion, and preserve every meaningful moment with photographs that will never go out of style.
That’s exactly what I do.

Planning your wedding is about so much more than choosing a beautiful venue. It’s about creating an experience that feels true to the two of you—surrounded by your favourite people, celebrating in a place you love, and ending the day with memories you’ll treasure forever.

I’m Megan, a Canadian wedding photographer specializing in luxury and adventure-inspired weddings throughout British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies. While many couples know me for photographing mountain weddings in Banff and Jasper, I also love documenting elegant celebrations throughout Vancouver—from waterfront ceremonies overlooking the Pacific Ocean to sophisticated downtown weddings and intimate garden celebrations.

My approach is calm, intentional, and focused on helping you stay present while I preserve your story naturally.

Why choose Vancouver for your wedding

Few cities in Canada offer the variety that Vancouver does.

One day can include portraits beside the ocean, a ceremony surrounded by lush gardens, cocktails overlooking the skyline, and sunset photos with the Coast Mountains rising in the distance. Whether you’re dreaming of a luxury hotel wedding, an elegant estate celebration, or an intimate gathering by the water, Vancouver offers endless possibilities. No matter what your vision looks like, Vancouver provides a backdrop that’s both timeless and unforgettable.

Some of my favourite things about Vancouver weddings include:

INCREDIBLE OCEAN & MOUNTAIN SCENERY
Few cities offer the chance to celebrate with sandy beaches, the Pacific Ocean, towering mountains, and a vibrant skyline all within minutes of each other.

LUXURY HOTELS AND ICONIC WEDDING VENUES
From elegant hotels like the Fairmont Pacific Rim to waterfront estates and garden venues, Vancouver offers incredible options for every wedding style.

MILD TEMPERATURES COMPARED TO MUCH OF CANADA
Vancouver’s coastal climate makes it one of Canada’s best destinations for spring, fall, and even winter weddings.

EASY ACCESS FOR DESTINATION WEDDING GUESTS
With a major international airport and excellent transportation, it’s easy for guests to travel from across Canada and around the world.

What to look for in a Vancouver wedding photographer

Choosing the right photographer is about more than just liking a few pretty photos. Your wedding photographer plays a major role in how your day feels and how smoothly it flows, so it’s important to choose someone who brings both experience and support to the entire process.

Licensed & Insured

One of the first things to look for in a Vancouver wedding photographer is whether they are properly licensed and insured. Many venues in Vancouver require photographers to carry liability insurance, and working with someone who is fully covered protects both you and your venue. It’s a simple detail that speaks to professionalism and ensures there are no surprises when it comes to working at established venues or public locations throughout the city.

Portfolio Consistency

A strong portfolio should feel cohesive from start to finish. When reviewing a photographer’s work, look for consistency in lighting, editing style, and emotion across different weddings and locations. In a city like Vancouver, where weather and lighting can change quickly, consistency is especially important. You want to know that no matter the conditions, your photos will still feel timeless, intentional, and true to their style.

Planning Support, Timelines, and Location Guidance

Your photographer should do far more than simply show up on the wedding day. Look for someone who actively helps you plan your photography timeline, suggests portrait locations that suit your vision, and understands how to work with Vancouver’s unique lighting and landscapes. From waterfront sunsets to garden ceremonies and downtown portraits, having someone who knows the city well can make a huge difference in how smoothly your day unfolds.

Communication, Contracts, and Reliability

Clear and consistent communication is essential when planning a wedding. Your photographer should be responsive, easy to reach, and willing to connect over video calls so you feel comfortable before booking. You should also expect a clear contract that outlines everything from coverage details to deliverables, along with professional invoicing and payment structure. This level of organization not only builds trust but also ensures your experience feels seamless from inquiry to gallery delivery.

My Favourite Wedding Photo Locations Around Vancouver

One of the biggest advantages of getting married in Vancouver is having so many incredible portrait locations close together. Whether you’re hoping for dramatic coastal scenery or elegant urban architecture, we’ll choose locations that reflect your personalities and complement your wedding day timeline.

Some of my favourite places include:

  • STANLEY PARK
  • ENGLISH BAY
  • CYPRESS MOUNTAIN
  • WHYTECLIFF PARK
  • JERICHO BEACH
  • SEA-TO-SKY HIGHWAY
  • UBC ROSE GARDEN
  • LIGHTHOUSE PARK

PLANNING TIPS FOR YOUR VANCOUVER WEDDING

Every location comes with its own unique considerations, and Vancouver is no exception.

Rain
Vancouver has a well-earned reputation for rain, especially during fall and winter. The good news is that some of the city’s most beautiful wedding photographs are created during soft, overcast weather, and I always help couples plan flexible backup options so the day still feels effortless.

Traffic
Vancouver traffic can be unpredictable, especially during rush hour, summer weekends, and around major events or bridge crossings. Building extra travel time into your timeline is essential so we can move between locations without stress or rushed moments.

HOLIDAYS

Long weekends and holidays in Vancouver often bring increased traffic, busier parks, and higher demand for venues, vendors, and accommodations. With the right planning, they can still be incredible wedding dates, but booking early and planning around crowds makes a big difference.

SRING WEDDINGS

Cherry blossoms transform Vancouver each spring, creating one of the most romantic settings imaginable. This season offers fresh greenery, colourful blooms, and comfortable temperatures.

QUESTIONS

Yes—helicopter elopements and mountaintop ceremonies are very popular, with local operators like SKY Helicopters, Sierra Helicopters and Blackcomb Helicopters (Whistler-based) offering access to remote alpine locations around the Sea-to-Sky region for truly unforgettable experiences.

Summer and early fall are the most popular for warm weather and sunsets, while spring offers cherry blossoms and winter provides cozy, atmospheric city weddings.

Traffic can vary greatly depending on rush hour, bridges, and weekend events, so I always recommend building buffer time between venues and portrait locations to keep your day relaxed.

Rain is always possible in Vancouver. October through March is Vancouver’s rainiest season, with November and December generally receiving the most rainfall.

Some locations like Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, and certain beaches may require permits for photography or ceremonies, so it’s important to confirm permissions ahead of time when planning your locations.

Peak season dates in summer and early fall often book 12–18 months in advance, especially for popular venues and vendors, so early planning is strongly recommended.

Vancouver Wedding Photography Packages

Every wedding is different, which is why my collections are designed to provide flexibility while ensuring your day is documented beautifully from beginning to end.

I believe your photographer should be one of the most supportive people you’ll work with throughout the planning process. From our first conversation to the moment your final gallery is delivered, my goal is to make the entire experience feel effortless and enjoyable. I’ll help with everything from building a photography timeline and choosing portrait locations to offering lighting advice for your ceremony, planning family photos, recommending trusted vendors, creating rain backup plans, and guiding you through natural, relaxed posing throughout the day. By the time your wedding arrives, you’ll feel confident, prepared, and free to focus on what matters most: being fully present with the people you love.

Whether you’re planning a luxury celebration at one of Vancouver’s iconic hotels or an intimate gathering overlooking the ocean, my photography packages are built around creating a relaxed experience and timeless imagery you’ll cherish for generations.
