When they arrived at the lake, the atmosphere was calm and serene. As they walked along the shoreline, taking in the views, Micah’s nerves started to build. He squeezed Callie’s hand, trying to stay present while knowing exactly what was about to happen.
As they wandered toward a quieter stretch of shoreline, the mountains reflected softly on the water behind them. This was it. Micah stopped, turned toward Callie, and dropped down on one knee.

You can drive directly to Lake Louise, and there is a paid parking lot available at the lakeshore. However, parking fills up extremely quickly—often by early morning in the summer and on peak weekends—so it’s important to arrive early if you plan to self-drive. Once the lot is full, vehicles are turned away with no waiting space, which is why many visitors also choose shuttles or alternative transportation options during busy season.
For engagement sessions, early mornings or a few hours before sunset are usually the best times to avoid crowds and get that calm, dreamy light the lake is famous for. Even with the popularity and logistics, Lake Louise is absolutely worth it for the incredible mountain scenery and those once-in-a-lifetime portraits.
